Russia may delay the launch vehicle "Soyuz" to 2012

Said sources from the Russian space sector today that the authorities may delay the launch vehicle "Soyuz" space from the base of "Baikonur" in Kazakhstan to 2012, after the fall of the military space satellite "Meridian" in Siberia.



A spokesman for the sector in a statement released by the agency (Interfax) Russian that he must postpone the launch vehicle "Soyuz 2", which will carry six satellites model, "The Globalstar Communication 2" from the base of "Baikonur", after the failure to launch Friday on board the moon, "Meridian," the industrial base "Plesetsk".



The spokesman also did not rule out the possibility of changing the launch date of another vehicle model "Soyuz", which is scheduled to take Russian cargo ship, "The Progress" in orbit late this month.



Were unable to satellite "Meridian" on Friday night to reach orbit due to a malfunction in the third phase of the missile firing mechanism "Soyuz 2".



This is the fifth time during the year that fail to process the Russian space industry.



It is worth mentioning that the cargo ships and vehicles from model "Soyuz" has become the only link between the Earth and the International Space Station after the retirement of U.S. vehicles.
